Welcome BlogHoppers!   This week we are sharing Disney-ish pictures that were not taken at the park.   This was hard for me....almost all my Disney pics are from a park or a cruise.   I finally decided to share pictures of our Christmas tree, but blogger has different ideas this morning.   So here's a link to a Christmas post that shows our adorable tree topper.

We love Disney Cruises...we've gone on three so far and are hoping to go to Alaska next summer.  These pictures are from our second cruise....7 day western caribbean.  We usually vacation in January so weather is always hit and miss.   This year it fell more in the 'miss' category so we spent more time on the ship than we normally would.  

On one of the stormy days, the cruise director invited everyone to a chip-off.  (I should probably let you know that we are the obnoxiously loud family that you talk about on vacation...we are also very competitive...)  anyhoos...boy2 and hubby1 decided to participate and it turns out they are very good at this silly little game.  They also had a case of the sillies so they were taking a lot of time to set up their shots and there was probably some trash talking (maybe..a little), which obviously the girl in lavendar didn't appreciate...

 and then there was this shot.....if boy2 can convince the cruise director to call it a
"-2" then hubby1 loses and boy2 wins.....

it is clearly more out than in but boy2 is determined to convince the director otherwise....

I don't remember the outcome but I do remember that the round was delayed much longer than it should have been.

A very simple red and white themed tree this year...

Boy1 had to work on Friday so we took a blogging buddy's advice and visited Rock City, Tn. As we drove down the highway, there were signs all over the place encouraging us to visit. We had a feeling we were heading into a tourist trap but figured we'd play along.

It's basically some fun trails through rocks with fantastic views. Some of the views are spectacular...at one point you can see 7 states.

And then, just before you are finished, you find this sign. Harmless enough....

and then you enter the Fairy Tale Cavern and these two "lovely" creatures are there to greet you:

As you walk through the cavern, you find all sorts of figures hidden in the rocks....

The grand finale is this room with is "Mother Goose's Village"....We didn't walk around the whole village. We did notice, though, that Cinderella is now part of Mother Goose's town.

Definitely not Disneyland....but kinda charming in it's own bizzare way.

WDW with girl1

Girl1 and I went to Walt Disney World for her high school graduation.  We did one of their land/sea packages.  Had a FANTASTICAL time--even though our first two days were spent running around the parks in our lovely ponchos (mine was red).    We only had 3 days for the land portion, so waiting out the storm was not an option.   Here she does her best "magic carpet" impersonation.    silly girl.
