this week is brought to you by the letter "C"

*repost alert*
I'm revisiting some of my favorite "A is for Apple" posts for Heidi's Disney ABC hop.   Looking forward to meeting lots of new Disney friends over there!

It also fits in with Written Inc's photo theme of parallel this week.   Hop over there and be amazed at his beautiful pictures.

Moving right along thru the alphabet brings us to the letter "C."    This one is super easy....castle, crowds, color, coffee, churros, etc etc etc.

To start off the week, I'm sharing one of my favorite Disneyland pictures.   It's from the Columbia and I absolutely love how it turned out. (and I know that technically it's a "R"ope, but it's my blog and I choose to not wait until we get to the letter "r"....so it's Columbia's rope this week.)

Inspecting the parks for the Letter "I".... #disneyland

On Wednesday my shift got bumped back a couple hours so I decided to spend the extra time in the park taking pictures.  It was a beautiful spring day and I needed some more "I" pictures (cuz girl1 FINALLY decided to start posting her own pictures.)  I assumed that there would be some iris in the park somewhere.   They were harder to locate than I expected but I did find a few.

Not a huge fan of this shot but it does have the only purple iris that I saw.

I'm excited for this week....it's a little more challenging than some of the other letters. Can't wait to see what everyone finds.  Don't forget to post a link in the comment section so we can find your pictures and invite your friends!

Rivers of America...part five

Just a few more pics from my voyage on the Columbia.

If you've been on board since part one, you'll remember the woman who was so excited about the new sites that she brought her map.

Sailing ships are just majestic.

Nothing special here...I just liked the picture.

And there she goes.......off on another trip along the Rivers of America.

Rivers of America...part four (almost done)

There's some wildlife along the banks of the rivers.  I missed some because I am easily distracted...but I did spot some birds.

The eagles must be a big deal, because everyone on deck raced to one side to see them.   I didn't expect all the movement and it made getting a good picture difficult.

This bird looks plastic. Maybe it was because it was noon but I expect Disney to do better.

Different settings but still plastic.   Not good.

Rivers of America...part three

Today we enter the Indian Village.   I hadn't realized how faded everything had become, but it looks fantastic now!

Anyone heading to the parks this weekend?

Rivers of America....part two

Back on the boat with some pictures of Tom Sawyer's Island/Pirates' Lair.

The Mark Twain is still being refurbished but you can get a good look at it as you pass by.

And I'm always up for a picture of the Stars and Stripes:

Rivers of America...part one

There is water in the rivers again, so of course I had to go check it out.   The Mark Twain is still being refurbished so I took a trip on the Columbia.    In all the years I've been going to Disneyland, I can't remember ever riding on it before.

I have to say "kudos" to Disneyland on this refurbishment...it looks really nice!   There was a fun couple who had brought a map of the "new" river attractions from their local paper.   She missed the live horses and asked the deckhand about their location.  He said the horses don't like the the train and so they are hiding.

I took too many pictures for one post, so we'll probably be visiting the river all week.

Today--on the dock:

Vintage Disneyland - Columbia and Mark Twain

A shot of our favorite river in the early 60s -

and then again in the mid 70s -

Hopefully there will be water in the river when I go next week.  =D

The River is Empty

Must be January--so much construction, painting and refurbishment going on at the parks.  It's kind of fun to watch all the repair work; although you have to get creative to see over the barriers.    These were taken by standing on a rail (which cast members disapprove of apparently) on the bridge over the Pirates of the Caribbean line.   I saw other photographers hanging over the edge of the Tarzan treehouse to get shots.   We're such geeks.

Columbia in dry dock.

Tom Sawyers island is to the left.

The track where the Mark Twain docks.
